Trying Something New

jozsef-linz.jpg

In addition to writing books to… ahem… some acclaim, I have also made a living as a senior art director and animator for nigh on 25 years now (though I wasn’t always “senior”). I have studied fine art and while I’m no Karlo Pinsky or Frank Cho, I have some rudimentary hand skills and an ability to create composition that are somewhat pleasing to the eye. I’ve won awards, had designs featured in Lürzers Archive, etc.

The most consistent personal art I’ve done over the years is wood- and linocuts. For some reason printmaking appeals to me. I’ve started a new book - historical in some ways - and I’ve made a decision that my agent has agreed to back me on.

I’m going to illustrate my next novel with linocuts. Or try to.

I was worried that my art might not be up to par, quality-wise, but a few artists I admire have reassured me that is not the case. So we’re going to take a swing and hopefully, if not pass the fences, then at least get a double. I don’t know. I’m not good a baseball metaphors.

That is all.

Welcome to My New Website

new-website.jpg

I had a website. It got hacked. My email, which was bundled with that website host, got hacked. My Twitter got hacked. Then, after I had worked for 36 hours to regain control of all my digital assets. It was all hacked again, thanks to the shitty security of my webhost.

It’s been a long week.

This place is in disarray, since I’ve put it together in the last 24 hours. I’ll work on it as time allows. Currently waiting for the johnhornorjacobs.com domain to transfer over here.

Anyway, word to the wise, never ever use Site5 for webhosting. And never have your main email address bundled with your webhost because if your webhost gets hacked, your email will follow, and then all your shit is done.

That is all.
